D r Fan YANG was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2005. She is an arbitrator of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and a CEDR and HKMAAL Accredited Mediator. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She is a Member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), a Member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Hong Kong Arbitration Committee and Trade Facilitation Committee, a Member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), a Member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and an Elected Committee Member of the CIArb East Asia Brach. Before joining City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor, she was an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP. She has also worked as a legal assistant to the renowned international arbitrator Neil Kaplan CBE QC SBS. She was awarded her PhD by Queen Mary University of London.
Dr Yang specializes in Chinese and International Comparative Arbitration Law and gives lectures on Arbitration, Mediation and ADR, Chinese and International Comparative Contract Law and Commercial Law regularly. She has acted as course director for a number of training courses and programmes both within and outside of Hong Kong. She is a Member and Liaison of the Hong Kong Drafting Team for a Model Law on Contracts for the Greater China Region. She was appointed as a visiting Professor at the University of Vienna for the autumn term of 2013.
She is a member of the Standing Committee of the China Academy of Arbitration Law (中国仲裁法学研究会常务理事). She has been appointed as an examining panel member (審核小組成員) under the Higher Rights of Audience Rules (《較高級法院出庭發言權規則》).
