B ranislav Hazucha is Associate Professor at Hokkaido University Graduate School of Law and Member of the Research Institute for Information Law and Policy and of the Advanced Institute for Law and Politics at Hokkaido University, Japan. His research interests focus on the impact of intellectual property protection on cultural production and development of new information and communication technologies. In his research, he employs interdisciplinary, empirical and comparative analysis.
He teaches international and comparative intellectual property law, comparative contract and tort laws, European Union law, and legal research methodology. He has previously taught at Kyushu University and Nagoya University in Japan and at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan.
Before entering into academia, he practiced law in a leading law firm in Slovakia (Čechová & Partners) and worked at the Institute for Approximation of Law at the Slovak Government Office. He obtained his law degrees at the University of Oxford (MJur), Comenius University (LL.M.), Trnava University (Dr. jur.), and Kyushu University (LL.D.).
