M ichael BRIDGE, a Fellow of the British Academy, is the Cassel Professor of Commercial Law at the London School of Economics and Professor of Law at the National University of Singapore. He is also a barrister of the Middle Temple and a door tenant at 20 Essex Street Chambers. Formerly, he held chairs at McGill University Montreal, the University of Nottingham and University College London, where he was also Dean. He has been a visiting professor on many occasions at the Universities of Sydney, Melbourne, Malaya, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainz and Auckland, and at Monash, Tulane and Bilgi Universities. A former member of the second and third Lando Commissions on European Contract Law, he was also an advisor to the security and property transfer groups in the Study Group for a European Civil Code and is a member of the CISG Advisory Council. His published work ranges across Contract Law, Private International Law, Credit and Secured Transactions, Insolvency Law, Comparative Law and Domestic and International Sales Law. He has written many articles and his published books, with Oxford University Press and Sweet and Maxwell, include Benjamin’s Sale of Goods (of which he is the general editor) and treatises on Sale of Goods, International Sale of Goods, Personal Property Law (co-authored), International Sale of Goods in the Conflict of Laws (co-authored) and the Law of Security and Title-Based Transactions (co-authored).
